A family-owned investment company with roots in civil engineering

Skirner is the Nordström family's investment company. We are a long-term owner with roots in civil engineering and a clear ambition: to develop companies over time, with responsibility in every investment and with respect for what has made companies successful.

Our ownership ranges from long-term ownership in a focused portfolio of leading listed companies – with a clear generational perspective – to strategic acquisitions of small and medium-sized unlisted businesses where we assume greater ownership responsibility. In common for both is the same starting point: active ownership, high ambitions and a long-term perspective. Sweco is a core holding and a central part of the family's company building. We have the same long-term vision in other strategic holdings – such as Besqab, where we have been a significant shareholder since the company was founded

Pär Warnström, VD Skirner

Our mission is to develop companies that persist and remain relevant over time. We do this by investing in established businesses, building on what is already strong and at the same time creating space for the next step – in products, competencies and markets. For us, ownership is a responsibility. We contribute with focus, priorities and perseverance so that companies can grow with quality and direction – and with respect for their history, culture and identity.

Our cornerstones

In 1958, Gunnar Nordström formulated guiding principles for FFNS. We have carefully updated them to reflect our times and our role as owners - without changing the essence of what they stand for.
01
No task is unimportant to us
Small or large, it can be decisive.
02
The people in the companies are the main characters in our ownership
We listen, bring in perspective, and use our experience and relationships to strengthen decisions and implementation.
03
Management should be given good conditions
Management should be given good conditions for responsibility and professional development, with freedom and confidence.
04
We should be curious and evolve
The world is constantly changing - we should be curious, try new things and develop our way of working without losing direction.
05
Ownership in partnership
We see value in the fact that people in management are also co-owners. Shared incentives create long-term vision and clear direction — and lay the foundation for a partnership in company building.
06
A good economy is important
The company must be run on business and corporate principles.
07
Cross-border cooperation
Collaboration across borders - between competencies, perspectives and companies - should be encouraged when it produces better results than each individual.
08
Seek partnership
We have our roots in Norrland and Stockholm is our home but we are looking for partnerships throughout the country and also abroad.
09
We should have our workplaces in our own house
The principle was formulated in 1958 - and for us it is still literal: we sit in our own house, as part of our view of long-term vision, independence and responsibility.
Skirner has strategic holdings in publicly traded companies – including Sweco and Besqab – as well as wholly owned businesses such as Teletec. In addition, Skirner manages assets in real estate and forest (through subsidiaries) and complements other listed and unlisted holdings, with the aim of generating long-term good returns and diversification.

How we work as owners

We combine active ownership with respect for the operational responsibility of the companies.

As a principal owner, we take responsibility for capital allocation, long-term path choices and sustained follow-up - and we contribute analysis and perspective when decisions need to be made with the whole in mind. Our goal is to create conditions for management teams and organizations to develop the company with pace, quality and persistence.
